SINOPSIS: ¿Quién es Artemis Fowl? De momento sabed que no es un niño cualquiera y que, aunque sólo tiene 12 años, está a punto de arrebatar el poder al mundo subterráneo. Lo que él todavía no sabe es que sus habitantes: hadas, duendes, elfos..., no son las criaturas maravillosas que siempre hemos imaginado y no van a consentir que un humano conozca sus secretos más sagrados. Como él, van armados hasta las barbas y conocen las últimas tecnologías: se prepara un trepidante duelo que puede provocar una auténtica guerra entre las especies del planeta.

¿POR QUÉ DECIDÍ LEERLO?
La verdad es que quería leer esta saga desde hace un tiempo, ya que estaba en busca de un libro de fantasía y personajes atrapantes. Y la descripción del libro encajaba perfectamente con lo que yo estaba buscando: un personaje interesante en la lectura, una mezcla de Sherlock Holmes y la fantasía y un libro lleno de aventuras. Pero lo único que encontré en este libro fue una descripción bonita.
ESCRITURA
No me ha gustado la escritura de Eoin Colfer, en absoluto. Tal vez no sea algo muy importante, porque el autor sabe como crear una aventura, pero no me ha atrapado. No tiene descripciones ni nada por el estilo, nada poético... Y eso no debe ser un problema necesariamente, ha leído muchos libros así. Pero creo que el autor no me demostró lo que el libro significa para él. No hay pasión, no hay nada de parte del autor. La pluma de Eoin Colfer no me sumergió en sus páginas y podría haber parado de leer en cualquier momento y ponerme a hacer otra cosa. Pensé en abandonar el libro un par de veces, pero desistí. La escritura de un libro fantástico debe ser como tal, debe estar llena de magia... Y Eoin Colfer presenta una escritura hueca.
PERSONAJES
Creo que esto ha sido lo único que me gustó del libro. Artemis Fowl es un personaje muy divertido y atrapante a la hora de leer. Es como una especie de Sherlock Holmes de 12 años, ¡y yo amo la forma de ser de Sherlock Holmes! Es entretenido, pero después de unas cuantas páginas, el autor parece olvidarse de caracterizar a su personaje así, y se convierte en nada.
Lo bueno de este protagonista es que es diferente a cualquier otro protagonista que hayas visto. ¡Hasta podría llegar a pensarse que es el villano de la historia! Su motivación son las riquezas y el poder; es egoísta y, en comparación a las metas de los otros personajes, es prácticamente el villano de la historia. ¡Creo que eso ha sido sumamente interesante!
CONCLUSIÓN
Artemis Fowl es un libro que promete mucho... pero eso es todo. Tiene muchos aspectos interesantes, pero no tiene pasión... Es hueco. No sientes ninguna conección con los personajes.... la historia no te atrapa...
¿Me gustó? No.
¿Lo recomiendo? Tal vez. Hay muchas personas que te dirán que este libro es increíble y que debes leerlo, pero yo no soy una de ellas.
¿Pienso leer los otros libros de la saga? ¡No!

WHY DID I DECIDE TO READ IT?
The truth is that I wanted to read a fantasy book, and the description and synopsis of this book were perfect for what i was looking for: an interesting character, a mixture of Sherlock Holmes and fantasy and an adventure book. But the only thing I found in this book was a pretty description.
WRITING STYLE
I hated it, end of the story. I's got no metaphors or descriptions or anything like it. That's not necessarily a bad thing! I've read tons of books like that and they're good! But Eoin Colfer didn't show me what this book means to him. There's no passion, nothing from him. The author's writing didn't hook me and I could have stopped reading at any time if I felt like it. I even though about abandoning the reading, but I didn't. The writing style of a fantasy book has to be as magic... And Eoin Colfer's writing is hollow.
CHARACTERS
I think this is the only thing I liked about this book. Artemis Fowl is a really interesting and eciting character. It's some kind of 12-year-old Sherlock Holmes. And I love Sherlock's way of being!
The good thing about this protagonist is the fact that he's different from any other protagonist you can think of. We could even say he's the villain!! His motivation is gold and power; he's selfish in comparison with the other character's goals and he's practically the bad guy!! I think this has been SOOO interesting!!
CONCLUSION
Artemis Fowl is a book that promises a lot... but that's it.
Did I like it? NO.
Do I recommend it? Perhaps. I mean, there are lots of people out there who'll tell you this is the best book ever... But not me....
Am I planning to read the following books of the series? NO!
