DOS ELECCIONES INUSUALES, DOS NUEVOS LIBROS

Dos libros nuevos que conseguí

¡Hola, lectores!

TWO NEW BOOKS I'VE FOUND

Hi, readers! It's summer and, do you know what happens in summer? I turn into a full time reader. Full time.

However, the point in this post is that I went to the bookshop yesterday. Yes, beautiful. But I just didn't find anything. I didn't find a single book I wanted. Nothing at all. I went to two different bookshops, but still nothing. I'm sure if it's because I was really tired yesterday, or because I'd read everything in the bookshelves. The point is that I found myself wandering between bookshelves with books I'd already read and anything new. How's that even possible?! And the books I was looking for weren't there either!! Origin by Jennifer L. Armentrout, Let It Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson & Lauren Miracle... none of those was to be found in the bookshop!!

So I clearly got angry. And frustrated. But really angry.

So I walked into different bookshelves, explored other genres and ended up making quite a unusual choice. The books I bought:

The first one is 1Q84 by Hakuri Murakami. Unusual, I know.
SYNOPSIS: A young woman named Aomame follows a taxi driver’s enigmatic suggestion and begins to notice puzzling discrepancies in the world around her. She has entered, she realizes, a parallel existence, which she calls 1Q84 —“Q is for ‘question mark.’ A world that bears a question.” Meanwhile, an aspiring writer named Tengo takes on a suspect ghostwriting project. He becomes so wrapped up with the work and its unusual author that, soon, his previously placid life begins to come unraveled.
As Aomame’s and Tengo’s narratives converge over the course of this single year, we learn of the profound and tangled connections that bind them ever closer: a beautiful, dyslexic teenage girl with a unique vision; a mysterious religious cult that instigated a shoot-out with the metropolitan police; a reclusive, wealthy dowager who runs a shelter for abused women; a hideously ugly private investigator; a mild-mannered yet ruthlessly efficient bodyguard; and a peculiarly insistent television-fee collector.
A love story, a mystery, a fantasy, a novel of self-discovery, a dystopia to rival George Orwell’s — 1Q84 is Haruki Murakami’s most ambitious undertaking yet: an instant best seller in his native Japan, and a tremendous feat of imagination from one of our most revered contemporary writers.

And the second book I bought is Mr Mercedes by Stephen King. It had been a while that I had been wanting to read something by Stephen King, and the truth is that there were manyyy options. I found myself wandering through the pages of Revival and others, but I chose Mr. Mercedes.
SYNOPSIS: In the frigid pre-dawn hours, in a distressed Midwestern city, hundreds of desperate unemployed folks are lined up for a spot at a job fair. Without warning, a lone driver plows through the crowd in a stolen Mercedes, running over the innocent, backing up, and charging again. Eight people are killed; fifteen are wounded. The killer escapes.
In another part of town, months later, a retired cop named Bill Hodges is still haunted by the unsolved crime. When he gets a crazed letter from someone who self-identifies as the "perk" and threatens an even more diabolical attack, Hodges wakes up from his depressed and vacant retirement, hell-bent on preventing another tragedy.
Brady Hartfield lives with his alcoholic mother in the house where he was born. He loved the feel of death under the wheels of the Mercedes, and he wants that rush again.
Only Bill Hodges, with a couple of highly unlikely allies, can apprehend the killer before he strikes again. And they have no time to lose, because Brady’s next mission, if it succeeds, will kill or maim thousands.
Mr. Mercedes is a war between good and evil, from the master of suspense whose insight into the mind of this obsessed, insane killer is chilling and unforgettable.
