RESEÑA: mr. mercedes de stephen king
SINOPSIS: Justo antes del amanecer, en una decadente ciudad americana, cientos de parados esperan la apertura de la oficina de empleo para reclamar uno de los mil puestos de trabajo que se han anunciado. Han hecho cola durante toda la noche.
De pronto, invisible hasta que lo tienen prácticamente encima, un Mercedes surge de la fría niebla de la madrugada. Su conductor atropella y aplasta a todos los que encuentra a su alcance. Acto seguido, el coche da marcha atrás y vuelve a arremeter contra ellos. El asesino huye dejando atrás ocho muertos y quince heridos.
Meses después, Bill Hodges, un policía jubilado, que sigue obsesionado con este caso sin resolver, recibe una carta anónima de alguien que se declara culpable de la masacre.
Brady Hartsfield vive con su madre alcohólica en la casa donde nació. Disfrutó tanto de aquella sensación de muerte debajo de los neumáticos del Mercedes, que ahora quiere recuperarla.
Mr MERCEDES es la historia de una guerra entre el Bien y el Mal. Un retrato inolvidable de la mente de un asesino obsesionado y demente.
Ya hacía tiempo que quería leer algo de Stephen King, y este es el primer libro suyo que leo. Sin duda, no será el último. Principalmente, me ha sorprendido la capacidad que tiene para estructurar una historia y desarrollarla de forma que no le falte nada. No es la típica novela policíaca en la que se debe descubrir al asesino. Stephen King te dice quién es el asesino desde el mero principio, pero los demás no lo saben. Es como si tú supieras el secreto más grande del libro, y debes ver como los personajes lo resuelven.
Así pues, en las casi 500 páginas que tiene el libro, King narra en tercera persona la historia de estos dos hombres,personajes peculiares y especiales que no dejan indiferente, mientras se persiguen el uno al otro.
Lo primero que la mayoría asocia al nombre Stephen King sin duda es TERROR y del bueno. Aunque Mr. Mercedes es más policíaco que terrorífico, el autor aún así da lo mejor de su escritura en esta novela.
Nos presentan a dos personajes que se necesitan para sobrevivir pero los dos quieren hacer desaparecer al otro.

SYNOPSIS: In the frigid pre-dawn hours, in a distressed Midwestern city, hundreds of desperate unemployed folks are lined up for a spot at a job fair. Without warning, a lone driver plows through the crowd in a stolen Mercedes, running over the innocent, backing up, and charging again. Eight people are killed; fifteen are wounded. The killer escapes.
In another part of town, months later, a retired cop named Bill Hodges is still haunted by the unsolved crime. When he gets a crazed letter from someone who self-identifies as the "perk" and threatens an even more diabolical attack, Hodges wakes up from his depressed and vacant retirement, hell-bent on preventing another tragedy.
Brady Hartfield lives with his alcoholic mother in the house where he was born. He loved the feel of death under the wheels of the Mercedes, and he wants that rush again.
Only Bill Hodges, with a couple of highly unlikely allies, can apprehend the killer before he strikes again. And they have no time to lose, because Brady’s next mission, if it succeeds, will kill or maim thousands.
Mr. Mercedes is a war between good and evil, from the master of suspense whose insight into the mind of this obsessed, insane killer is chilling and unforgettable.
I had been wanting to read something from Stephen King for a long while, and this is the first book I read written by him. Without doubt, it won't be the last one. Most of all, what has amazed me the most is the ability of the author to create this story and develop it, in order to leave it perfect, without anything missing. It isn't the typical detective story where we all must find who's the killer. Stephen King tells you who the killer is since the very beginning, but anyboyd else knows. Only you and, of course, the killer. It's like if you had the biggest secret of the novel in your hands and you just had to see how the characters solved it.
So, in this 500 pages, King narrates a third-person story about this two men, peculiar characters... as they chase each other.
The first thing that might come to your find when you hear Stephen King's name is HORROR. And, how couldn't it? He's a horror stories mastermind! Still, Mr. Mercedes is more a detective story than a horror one.
We're introduced two characters hat need each other to survive, but they both want to destroy each other.
A wheel of emotions. Mr. Mercedes is an smart, explosive, exciting, creepy and amazing story. King has made it again... a MASTERPIECE!
